Today was a great day! First and foremost, I need to say "Happy Birthday" to my little bro, Jim. Jim is a great guy, a good friend and a caring father and now he is 37 years old! Holy Old Mold, Batman! For Jim's birthday we went to breakfast at Jim's favorite restaurant, Annie's Cafe'. The proprietor, Annie, is a super friendly English lady that meets everyone at the door. She makes it a point to know everyone who eats there and greets them with a smile and their name. If you have not eaten there, as was the case with Sarah, me, Molly and Duane, they introduce you by name to the entire restaurant and make you wear these goofy hats the length of your visit. The food was great and the atmosphere was inviting. It was so great to spend the morning with my family. I love them all so much...Mum, D.O.D., Jim, Samantha, Scott, Hailey and Madyson.
After breakfast, we checked into our hotel in Anaheim across the street from Disneyland. Next....the USC game! Jim, Scott, D.O. D., Jason Valderrama, Duane Reed and myself drove to South Central Los Angeles for the football game between USC and Oregon. I was worried that I was the jinx that caused SC to lose their games, but when the smoke settled, USC emerged victorious. Actually, there was not much of a game. I think the final score ended up being 44-10. The Trojans clobbered the Ducks. It was a great game, but the company of my family made it that much more enjoyable.
The halftime show was dedicated to the USC olympians. This year, there were 40+ USC athletes that participated in the Olympic games in Beijing. USC has almost double the athletes of the second most university in the history of the Olympics. Trojan athletes earned a total of 21 medals this year alone (9 gold, 10 silver and 2 bronze). As a matter of fact, if USC were it's own country, it would place 13th among all nations in the all time medal count! That is insane! USC Rocks! Fight On Men and Women of Troy!
On a more important note, Caitlin is experiencing some contractions and is a bit uncomfortable, but she is still going to school and we have enjoyed speaking to her twice a day.
