That was so not Halloween

If you know me very well at all you know my passion for Halloween. This year the Halloween season started out strong with a very festive Pumpkin Day. Then celebrating shortly took a back seat to preparing for our fun California trip. No decorations went up so we could have our walls painted while we were away. As we returned a week before the big day there wasn't much point in putting anything up at that point. Although we sure have been celebrating the cold and flu season first with Leahs' cold during our trip. Leahs' cold became Marques' cold and poor Leah took another turn with another sickness including high fevers. Meanwhile I caught Leahs' original cold (probably from Marque) which turned into a sinus infection. I'm sure this is the same stuff everyone else is dealing with and we are trying to keep it to ourselves as much as possible. Apologies to Jims' family for passing the icky to them.
I don't remember the last time I didn't dress up for Halloween. I have been thinking of what Leah's costume should be this year for months. I wanted it to be a family theme and had it narrowed down between a german girl complete with a blond braid headband or Goldilocks and the 3 bears. Ultimately Goldilocks won, but I did buy a butterfly costume that was warm for trick-or-treating. Luckily I did for it was really the only Halloween themed thing in our house. After having to back out of all the fun Halloween happenings, all of us fighting to get well or stay well, this Halloween was a mere ghost of what I had anticipated. One big boo-hoo from me and then I settled on a low-key Halloween. I thoroughly enjoyed the few minutes of getting Leah "butterflied" and ready to go trick-or-treating with Dad. I had fun passing out candy and seeing all the cute costumes until Marque took over. I ate candy dangit whether I could taste it or not. Watching Leah enjoy her few trick-or-treat candies by putting them into and out of her bucket was another fun moment. Leah didn't actually eat any of her candy but she did enjoy some Count Chocula cereal for breakfast and a yummy Oreo from Aunt Brenda. All in all a sad Halloween by my standards, but it was sure to happen eventually. I hope next year we can avoid the sickies and get to back to our normal tradition of going all out. Here's some pics of our Halloween fun:

Leah as a pink butterfly. Her hair in pigtails always reminds me of an insects' antennae.

Leah and Dad all bundled up to go around the cul de sac for her first trick-or-treating.

It may be hard to see, but Leah is holding her bucket in this shot.

Leah looking through her loot.

This was all Leahs' idea. She found a good hiding place for her candy.

Leah just couldn't let her candy out of her sight.
Here she is crawling with her candy still in hand.

This was awesome. We just had to get a video.
These Trick or treaters from the Orchard Hills Ward rocked Halloween by singing for their sweets.
